Ideally suited to open pit and\u00a0underground<\/a>\u00a0mining<\/a>, quarrying\u00a0operations<\/a>, tailings dams, flood control, process\u00a0water<\/a>\u00a0and dirty-water<\/a>\u00a0handling, the DW Series is particularly effective in pit\u00a0dewatering<\/a>, sump drainage and\u00a0infrastructure<\/a>\u00a0protection against\u00a0water<\/a>\u00a0at a mine, says Schurco\u00a0Slurry<\/a>\u00a0external sales representative\u00a0Jonathan Fourie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series is specifically designed to tolerate variable slurry<\/a> properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series of pumps<\/a> features robust bearing<\/a> arrangements, high-chrome wear parts and conservative operating limits, enabling the pumps<\/a> to maintain a stable performance even when the conditions deviate from design<\/a> parameters, he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnlike many dewatering<\/a> pumps<\/a> that struggle with abrasive solids, the DW Series is built with suitable wear resistant materials and a design<\/a> philosophy focused on maintainability,\u201d adds Fourie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further notes that the elimination of routine liner adjustments, combined with modular<\/a> wet-end components<\/a>, significantly reduces maintenance<\/a> time and unplanned downtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because mining<\/a> operations<\/a> often face challenges with variable slurry<\/a> densities, abrasive particles, harsh operating conditions and limited maintenance<\/a> windows, the DW Series has been designed with features such as a double-volute casing, reducing radial thrusts, and fully replaceable high-chrome wear components<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The twin-volute reduces shaft deflection and bearing<\/a> loads, while the wear resistant interchangeable impellers and liners extend wear life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series may be fitted with an impeller release collar for faster replacement, bearing<\/a> frames designed for either grease or oil lubrication, and an eight position discharge orientation that allows for variable discharge pipe<\/a> configurations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile Schurco\u2019s slurry<\/a> pumps<\/a> are optimised for high-solids process duties, the DW Series pumps<\/a> are engineered for continuous operation, offering higher efficiencies and simplified maintenance<\/a> in these duties,\u201d states Fourie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To achieve a balance of robustness and efficiency<\/a>, the series features an optimised hydraulic design<\/a> that delivers high efficiencies, while reducing the hydraulic losses through pressure balancing and structural robustness, which, in turn, allows for operation within safe limits, without sacrificing energy<\/a> efficiency<\/a>, he adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series complements the company\u2019s existing slurry<\/a> pump portfolio, through its being suitable for applications between traditional slurry<\/a> pumping and general dewatering<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
